ஈரானியனுக்கு நாம யாருன்னு காட்டுவோம்…

சசி… நான் உன்னை பார்க்க வரணும்… இது பாலுமகேந்திரா. எங்க இருக்கீங்க சார், நானே வர்றேன்… இது டைரக்டர் சசிகுமார். இல்லைப்பா நானே வர்றேன். ஏன்னா தேவை எனக்குதான். இப்படி சொல்லிவிட்டு அடுத்த சில நிமிடங்களில் சசிகுமார் ஆபிசில் பாலுமகேந்திரா நிற்க, நான் ஒரு கதை சொல்றேன். பிடிச்சிருந்தா அந்த படத்தை நீ தயாரிக்கணும் என்கிறார் பாலுமகேந்திரா. பாதி கதை முடிவதற்குள் இந்த படத்தை நான் தயாரிக்கிறேன் என்கிறார் சசி. அந்த படம்தான் தலைமுறைகள்.

கேமிரா கவிஞர், எதார்த்த சினிமாவின் ராஜா என்றெல்லாம் பாராட்டப்படும் பாலுமகேந்திரா போன்றவர்கள்தான் தமிழ்சினிமாவின் நாதம், உரம், வரம் எல்லாமே. எழுபதை தாண்டிவிட்டாலும் இவரிடம் அதே ஆர்வமும், அதை தாண்டிய உழைப்பும் இருப்பது வியப்போ வியப்பு. ஈரானிய படத்தையெல்லாம் பார்த்துட்டு வாயை பிளந்து கொண்டு எத்தனை நாள்தான் ரசிப்பது? நமது படங்களை பார்த்து அவன் வாயை பிளக்க வேண்டாமா? இதுதான் பாலுமகேந்திராவின் கேள்வி. அதற்குரிய படம்தான் தலைமுறைகள்.

படத்தின் நாயகி ரம்யா சங்கர், ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் நான் ஷுட்டிங் ஸ்பாட்டுக்கு வந்ததும் சார் கேட்கிற கேள்வி இதுதான். ஏம்மா… மேகப் போடலையே? அவருக்கு மேக்கப் போட்டா பிடிக்காது. இந்த படத்தில் நடிச்சதை நான் வாழ்நாள் பாக்கியமா நினைக்கிறேன் என்கிறார் ரம்யா. தமிழ் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சம் தெரியும் பேரனுக்கும், ஆங்கிலம் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சம் தெரியும் தாத்தாவுக்கும் நடுவில் நடைபெறும் பாசப்பிணைப்புதான் இந்த படமாம். ஒரு காட்சியில் டைரக்டர் சசிகுமாரும் நடித்திருக்கிறார். நான் பாலுமகேந்திரா சார்ட்ட வொர்க் பண்ணியதில்லை. அவர் படத்தில் நடிச்சதும் இல்லை. ஒரு நாள் ஒரு சீன்ல என்னை நடிக்க வச்சார். இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் காட்சிகளை எனக்காக வச்சுருக்கக் கூடாதான்னு தோணுச்சு. இந்த படத்தை பெரிய மால் தியேட்டர்களில் மட்டும்தான் ரிலீஸ் பண்றோம். ஏன்னா, தரமான சினிமாவை விரும்புறவங்க மட்டும் இந்த படத்தை தேடி வந்து பார்த்தால் போதும் என்றார் சசிகுமார்.

அவ்வளவு பெரிய கேமிரா கவிஞர் இப்படியெல்லாம் பேசுவாரா என்பது ஆச்சர்யம்தான். நான் கொடாக் பிலிமில் படம் எடுத்தவன். அந்த நிறுவனம் மூடப்பட்டபோது என்ன செய்யப் போறோனோ என்கிற கவலையே வந்துருச்சு. ஆனால் இப்போது டிஜிட்டல் மயமாகிவிட்டது எல்லாம். இந்த படத்தை நான் டிஜிட்டலில்தான் எடுத்திருக்கேன். முதல் மூன்று நாள் எப்படி எடுக்கறதுன்னு கத்துக்கிட்டேன். இருந்தாலும் ஆரம்பத்துல ரொம்ப தடுமாறிப் போயிட்டேன். படம் எடுத்து முடிச்சதும் பிலிம்ல கிரேடிங் பண்ணுவாங்க. இதுல DI ன்னு சொல்றாங்க. கலரிங், பிஎக்ஸ்டி, க்யூப்னு சொல்றதையெல்லாம் கேட்டால் ஆச்சர்யமா இருக்கு என்றார்.

மேதைகள் உண்மையை சொல்ல ஒருபோதும் தயங்குவதில்லை.

Director Balu Mahendra displayed child-like curiosity

During the promo of his forthcoming film Thalaimuraigal, its director a veteran excited while talking about the latest digital camera functions and its various codes, all new to him, he said. He said he was only used to camera with films to shoot and the digital camera was new to him, and he learnt the nuances for 3 days, but still he is yet to master it. While we all know that he writes poem with his camera, brings the subjects alive with his wonderful camera angles. And for him to essay about digital camera is akin to a child who displays enthusiasm on seeing something new and attractive. A real genius and a true human. 

Speaking about the film that he wanted everyone including famous Iranians who give wonderful real life films, to get a taste of our art and culture through Thalaimuraigal. His eagerness to compete and bring accolades to his film industry is still in his heart and mind despite his old age. Talking about the age, he narrated how he got the film done. He called Sasikumar and asked him for an appointment but Sasi responded that he would come and meet him. Balu insisted that he is man who is seeking the favour and it is only correct for him to go and meet Sasi. He was at Sasikumar’s office few minutes later and told him that he would tell him the story which he should produce and started telling the story. The story was not even half told, Sasikumar promised him that he would produce the film and asked Balu sir to prepare for pre production process.

Director-cum-actor Sasikumar speaking about Thalaimuraigal said that though he did not work directly under him nor acted in his film. But he asked me to act in a scene one day quite surprisingly. After the shot I felt that few more scenes could have made him a memorable one. Ramya Shankar the leading lady of the film expressed her gratefulness to the director and said that she was fortunate to have landed in the film.

The bond between a grandson and a grandfather is shown in a realistic way with love and culture forming the background, is what Thalaimuraigal, all about.
