Director Selvaraghavan to share the loss of IU!
According to the contract entered into by Irandam Ulagam’s director Selvaraghavan and producers PVP Cinemas, they would be sharing the profit or loss incurred by the movie on a 50 : 50 basis. With Irandam Ulagam failing miserably at the box office, the producers have now demanded that Selva repay the loss they incurred which amounts to 18 crores. Irandam Ulagam is made on a budget of 65 crores and the producers incurred a loss of 36 crores. Following this, Selva should be paying 18 crores to the producers, say sources.
While it is so PVP, the makers of Irandam Ulagam are also producing Santhanam’s Vallavanukku Pullum Ayudham which is a remake of Telugu hit Mariyadha Ramana. The production cost of the film is said to have crossed over Rs.20 crores already. This has given butterflies in the stomach of Santhanam who is the witness to whatever is happening to director Selva. Though, the makers are not worried about the overshoot of production budget in view of the success it made in Telugu, according to sources close to production unit.
