தமிழ்சினிமா பெண் இயக்குனர்களின் லிஸ்ட் சற்றே குட்டையானதாக இருந்தாலும், அவர்களில் ஒரு சிலரின் வேகம் ஆண்களுக்கு சளைத்ததல்ல. நடிகை பானுமதி நல்ல உதாரணம். அதற்கப்புறம் வந்த பெண் இயக்குனர்களில் அத்தனை பேரையும் ஆஹா என்று சொல்லிவிட முடியாவிட்டாலும், அந்த முயற்சிக்கே ஒரு சல்யூட் வைத்துவிட வேண்டியதுதான். அந்த லிஸ்ட்டில் ‘நான் பானுமதியாக்கும்’ என்று சுரிதார் காலரை உயர்த்திக் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறார் ஷிவானி. அதுவும் மதுரைக்காரப் பெண். இவரது தாத்தா ஜீவரத்தினம் ஜெமினி கணேசனை வைத்து சில படங்கள் தயாரித்தவர் என்றாலும், ஷிவானிக்கோ இவரது தாய் தந்தையருக்கோ சினிமா என்பது டிக்கெட் வாங்கி தியேட்டருக்கு போகிற அளவுக்குதான் பரிச்சயமாம்.
அப்படியிருந்தும் சினிமாவின் மீதிருக்கும் ஆசையின் காரணமாக யாரிடமும் உதவி இயக்குனராக பணியாற்றாமல் நேரடியாக (நன்றாக கவனிக்கவும்… நேரடியாக) ஒரு படத்தை இயக்கியிருக்கிறார் ஷிவானி. டைட்டில் சோன்பப்படி!
‘நான் என்ஜினியரிங் படிச்சிருக்கேன். ஸ்கூல் படிக்கிற காலத்திலிருந்தே ஏதாவது கத்துக்கணும் என்கிற தவிப்பு மனசில் இருந்து கொண்டேயிருக்கும். மியூசிக் கத்துக்க போனேன். டைலரிங் கத்துக்கப் போனேன். அதையெல்லாம் கத்துகிட்டு சும்மாயில்லாமல் அதிலும் ஏதாவது வித்தியாசமா கிடைக்குமான்னு ட்ரை பண்ணுவேன். என்ஜினியரிங் படிக்க அனுப்பினாங்க. அங்கேயும் நான் முதல் மார்க். இதற்கிடையில் எங்கம்மா வாணி நிறைய கதைகள் எழுதி அதை அப்படியே வச்சுருப்பாங்க. அதில் ஒரு கதையை படிக்கும்போது ‘ஏம்மா… நான் இதை டைரக்ட் பண்ணவா?’ன்னு கேட்டேன். அவங்க சரின்னு சொன்னதும், உடனே செயல்ல இறங்கிட்டோம். அம்மாவே தயாரிப்பாளர் ஆகிட்டாங்க’.
‘தெரியாத தொழிலாச்சே என்று என்னை சிலர் டிஸ்கரேஜ் பண்ணினாலும் தாத்தா ஜீவரத்தினம், கண்டிப்பா நீ ஜெயிப்பே. துணிச்சலா டைரக்ட் பண்ணு என்றார். வழக்கு எண் .18/9 படத்தில் நடிச்ச ஸ்ரீயிடம் கதை சொன்னேன். அவருக்கு பிடிச்சிருந்தது. ஹீரோயினா சில விளம்பர படங்களில் நடிச்ச நிரஞ்சனாவை செலக்ட் பண்ணினோம். பொதுவாகவே நான் சில சாதனை பெண்களை அட்மயர் பண்ணுவேன். அவங்ககிட்ட இருக்கிற அதே தைரியம் எனக்கும் இருந்ததால் இந்த படத்தை நாற்பது நாட்களில் முடிச்சுட்டேன்’ என்றார் ஷிவானி.
சினிமா எடுக்கறது பெரிய விஷயமில்ல. அதை தியேட்டருக்கு கொண்டு வர்றதுதான் பெரிய விஷயம்னு சொல்றாங்க. அதையும் சாதிச்சு காட்டுவேன். ஜெயிப்பேன் என்கிற ஷிவானியை பார்க்க பார்க்க சந்தோஷமாக இருந்தது. உங்களை எத்தனை பெண்கள் அட்மயர் பண்ணப் போறாங்களோ? வாழ்த்துக்கள் ஷிவானி!
Shivani exudes confidence to excel in Kollywood
Though there is only handful of women directors in Kollywood, it is to their daring and challenging attitudes that drive them in Kollywood. We have one more name in the list of women directors now. Shivani, a Engineering graduate and granddaughter of Jeevarathnam, ex-producer who produced few Gemini Ganesan’s film, is the new star in the horizon. She has directed a film titled ‘Son Papdi’ with her mother as producer. Although her grandfather was in films, neither she nor her parents are in films except for watching the films in theatres.
“I have studied Engineering. Since my school days I wanted to do something different and unique. I had trained in music and tailoring and wanted to something different in those fields too. Later I joined Engineering and passed in first class. Meanwhile my mother used write lot of small stories, and keeps them with her. I happened to read one of her story which fascinated me. I asked her if she can make a film out of it and direct it. She said ‘yes’ and immediately we started executing our plans, as she decided to produce the film. My grandfather encouraged me saying that I would succeed in my efforts.
We had selected Sri of Vazhakku Enn 18/9 fame, who liked the script and gave consent to act in the film. We then zeroed in on Niranjana who does modelling to play the female lead. I used to admire women who have excelled in their lives. I follow them as my role models. It is with that courage, I completed the film in 40 days time,” narrated Shivani, with pride.
“People say it not a big thing to produce and direct a film but to bring it to the theatres is a real threat. I will surely get success in that too”, Shivani said with confidence.
While we congratulate her for her modest efforts, we wish her all success in her endeavours.
